Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Stockholm

Private transfer from Stockholm airport to your centrally located hotel.

Explore the vibrant Swedish capital surrounded by water earning it the nickname of Venice of the North. Begin your journey with the Royal Palace and a couple of local museums. Try the restaurants located in Fotografiska (Photography Museum) and Spritmuseum (Museum of Spirits).

Overnight at a 4-star boutique hotel in Stockholm.

Day 2: Swedish food tour and sightseeing

Discover Stockholm on a mouthwatering food tour. Follow your local guide into the world of markethalls where the locals shop. Visit Gamla Stan (Old town) with its colorful merchant houses and explore Östermalms Saluhall to indulge in authentic Swedish gastronomy. Enjoy the taste of the land through products such as cloudberry jam, wild berries, meats and fish with crisp flavors that only Scandinavia can produce.

Try Teatern at Ringen with its refreshing take on a mall food court, except here the food stands are run by Michelin-starred and celebrity chefs. Savor gourmet hotdogs created by Michelin-starred Magnus Nilsson, exquisite sustainable vegan dishes from Maximillian Lundin, and truffle ravioli and slow-cooked eggs by chef Stefano Catenacci.

Overnight at a 4-star boutique hotel in Stockholm.

Day 3: Scenic journey to Denmark

Head to Denmark by express train enjoying the 5-hour scenic ride through the green Swedish countryside dotted with hundreds of pristine lakes.

Once in Copenhagen, explore the city’s long history and many attractions. The Danish capital has a cozy atmosphere and its limited size allows you to explore it on foot or by public transportation. Amalienborg Royal Palace, the imposing Rosenborg Castle, the iconic Round Tower and the wonderful Tivoli Gardens are some of the many sights you can see with your all-inclusive city card.

Day 4: Taste of Copenhagen

Experience Copenhagen through an in-depth culinary walking tour. Immerse yourself in the Danish food culture by sampling popular street foods made with fresh, high quality ingredients as you visit various eateries and markets. Try a traditional Smørrebrød (open-faced sandwich), fish meatballs, cheese (our favorite is Bernstein grube), Peter Beier Chokolade and other delicacies.

Pay a visit to the Royal Kitchen at Christiansborg Palace to get a behind-the-scenes look at the royal parties and celebrations. Learn what goes on in the royal kitchen when there is a gala dinner, what exquisite dishes are prepared, and what it takes to orchestrate the cooking. Visit the Royal Reception Rooms and Royal Stables where you can admire the exquisite state coaches and carriages.

Indulge in the city’s fine dining options. Our team will provide recommendations based on your culinary interest and reserve your table at the restaurant of your choice.

Day 5: Overnight ferry to Norway

One of the most romantic ways to explore Copenhagen is by boat. Take a tour on the city canals gliding past beautiful churches, historic houses and dramatic castle walls. Visit one of the quirkiest museums in town, the Guinness World Records Museum, or tour Andersen’s Fairy-Tale House in the picturesque Nyhavn district lined with colorful 17th-century townhouses.

Overnight ferry journey to Oslo. Accommodation in seaside cabin with private bath.

Day 6: Highlights of Oslo

Arrive in Oslo in the morning. The beautiful Norwegian capital is blessed with friendly boroughs and a wonderful waterfront boardwalk with dozens of al fresco bars and restaurants. A meal in one of Tjuvholmen’s fine dining restaurants with a panoramic view of the harbor is a gourmet’s delight.

A walk in the city center to see the Parliament, the Castle and the new Opera House is well worth it. Learn about the remarkable Viking expeditions and the art of ship-making at the Viking Ship, Kon-Tiki or Fram museums. Finally, make the most of the day with a visit to Vigeland Sculpture Park and the Holmenkollen Ski Jump and Museum.

Overnight at an elegant 4-star hotel in Oslo.

Day 7: Culinary tour with foraging experience

Gain an in-depth perspective on Oslo’s food scene with a tour of select boutique eateries and one of the newest food halls in town. Sample the local favorites from seafood dishes and cured meats to the impossible to resist Norwegian waffles.

Following the food tour head out into the woods to discover your inner hunter-gatherer on a sensorial foraging experience. Collect wild blueberries, mushrooms or whatever edible plant happens to be in season.

Walk out to the fjords for a late afternoon swim. You might be surprised to know that some of the best beaches and spots for swimming are very close to the city center. Depending on the season you may also be able to take a seafood buffet cruise out into the Oslo fjords (cruise can be booked on request).

Day 8: Norway’s iconic fjords

Over the next couple of days experience Norway’s most scenic locations through the fjord region.

Transfer to the Central Railway Station and travel by train across the Hardanger Plateau, with its highest point at Finse (4000 ft), and to the village of Myrdal. At Myrdal change trains and board the famous Flåm Railway experiencing an extraordinary journey from Sognefjord, through wild and beautiful mountain scenery with waterfalls and steep mountainsides, to the fjord village of Flåm. There is no other railway in the world that runs on tracks so steep over such a long distance!

Once off the train, stretch your legs with a leisurely hike along the edge of the fjord or climb to one of the nearby waterfalls. Boost your energy with wild apples picked from trees growing along the village roads.

Note: Bring an overnight bag for this exclusive fjord experience. The rest of your luggage will be transferred from Oslo to Bergen.

Overnight at a historic mountain lodge in Flåm.

Day 9: Seafood in Bergen

After breakfast continue by boat to idyllic Gudvangen and further by coach up the steep and spectacular hairpin turns to legendary Voss.

Catch a train to Bergen, the beautiful capital of the fjords and discover the old Hanseatic harbor city. For a complete experience visit Bryggen harbor, take the Fløibanen Funicular, see Edward Grieg’s house at Troldhaugen and tour the Fish and Flower market.

The fish market is a great place to enjoy lunch al fresco style. Try the seafood platter, some sushi or perhaps a paella dish. Some of the seafood restaurants in Bergen also include cooking demonstrations. Let us know your preferences and we’ll help you select and book your dining experience.
